OUR STORY

"Welcome to Southern Cookin' Makes You Good Lookin' - a place for comfort food with a whole lot of heart.  Sure, we all know Southern food isn't always the healthiest, but sometimes you just need a meal that's gonna wrap you up in a big ole momma hug."

Those are the words of my daughter.  Due to the pandemic, we haven't been able to see each other in a very long time. Since cooking and sharing recipes is something we both enjoy we thought that doing this blog would be a great a way for us to stay connected. It will also allow us a way to preserve our families rich collection of deep south recipes and the stories that go with them.

Some of these recipes are going to look familiar to you, especially if you're from the South.  But you'll also find some unique family recipes that you've probably never heard of.  Please try them all! Southern Cookin Makes You Good Lookin hopes to reconnect you to your past positive experiences with food.  In the south, life revolves around food. If there is an occasion of any kind, it is marked with the making and giving of food. It's what we do.
